This radio is in agreement with the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Software Communications Architecture (SCA) without any exceptions. In addition, it has been given the stamp of approval by the National Security Agency for the processing of Top Secret data.

The label AN/PRC is assigned to the Army/Navy Portable Radio utilized for two-way communication and is determined by the Joint Electronics Type Designation System rules.
