Called Field Duty EDC (or FD EDC), the smaller design is incredibly slim while still being exceptionally strong, due to Mick Strider’s “Monoblock” technology in which the backspacer and front scale are created from one piece of titanium. The earlier model’s 4.0″ Bohler-M390 blade has been changed to a 3.5″ spear-point blade made from Elmax steel, making it 7.5″ in length when open, compared to the larger one’s 9″ size. The FD EDC can be opened with both hands using a thumb cutout, and it features revised handle ergonomics and a SHIELD pivot system which increases durability and reduces the need for maintenance with a non-rotating pivot.
